Vision 2010
ABC Regional Hispanic Ministries

The lay leadership of Nueva Esperanza, ABC's daughter church, has established several goals and projects for 2010.  They include the following:
  • To bless Hispanic women throughout the state by means of a conference and retreat held during the year;
  • To use Sunday school more effectively as a means of outreach;
  • To saturate our area with the Gospel through targeted visitation;
  • To minister to the growing needs within and outside the church family through distribution of clothes, health kits and other means;
  • To develop a prayer ministry within the church;
  • To guide our youth in greater outreach.

In addition, we continue to reach out to transient workers through evangelistic films, tract and Scripture distribution, health kit distribution (approximately 1,000 per year), visitation and help with critical interpretation needs.

ABC Regional Hispanic Ministries:
See what God has done - a history

ABC Regional Hispanic Ministries is focused on taking the Good News of Jesus Christ to Hispanics outside the walls of the church.  From its beginnings in 1992 as an outreach to transient farm workers, ABC has proclaimed the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Hispanics of Allendale, Hampton, Barnwell, Bamberg and Colleton Counties in South Carolina.

Our Purpose:  to reach and win the Spanish language/ culture people to Jesus Christ, to provide them with discipleship development, and to provide a Christian ministry to the permanent, seasonal, and transient Spanish language/culture people of Allendale-Hampton, Barnwell-Bamberg, and Colleton Associations in cooperation with local Southern Baptist churches.

Our Mission:  To establish on-mission Hispanic churches which will reach out to the Hispanic population (transient and permanent) of the ABC area, and to fulfill the Great Commandment and the Great Commission among the transient population.

Rev. Tony Hancock serves ABC as Director of Hispanic Missions and pastor of Iglesia Bautista Nueva Esperanza.

Goodbyes are never easy.  It was time recently to say goodbye to a group of farm workers that have been attending our services regularly, and it wasn't any easier this time than it usually is.  One of them spoke of the freedom he had found in Christ from his addiction to alcohol.  Another remained firm in his faith while far from his home church as a result of attending our services.  Yet another found hope in the face of family problems to move forward and seek to heal his marriage.  It's not easy to say goodbye to these and others in whose lives we have seen the Lord work, but we trust that he will continue to work in their lives as they return home.  Saying goodbye is a constant part of ministry to a transient population, but it also brings the opportunity to say hello to others and reach out to them in Christ's love.  Please pray for those who are returning to their homes, that they would carry with them the Good News of Christ's love and experience his Spirit's power in their lives.  As always, thank you for your prayers and support that make this ministry possible.
